What you must do if you are unable to work due to illness:
Report sick
On the first morning of absence from work, you must report sick to JobService as well as your workplace manager as soon as possible (but no later than 9.30). If you work part-time you must report sick on the first day that you are expected to work. For example, if you work on Mondays and Thursdays and you become sick on Tuesday, you must report sick on Thursday.
If your illness takes a while, you will be sent an information form from one of our Occupational Health Services, which you must complete and return.
You must inform JobService if you will be residing at a different address to your home address during your illness.
Return to work
Once you have recovered you must inform JobService on the first day that you return to work.
Long-term incapacity for work
If you have a long-term incapacity for work due to illness or an accident, you will continue to be paid until the end of your employment contract, for a maximum of two years.
The employee hired after state pension age will be paid for a maximum of 6 weeks.
If you are on secondment from HvA JobService you will receive 100% of your salary for the first 12 months, followed by 70% of your salary for a maximum of 12 months.
If you are unable to return to work (fully) after two years, you will fall under the WIA (Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act). For more information about the WIA, click here.
However, the WIA benefit will always be considerably less than your salary. JobService has taken out two insurance policies to give you the option of making up the shortfall. For more information about these, see Insurance Solutions.
JobService is committed to helping you to return to work if possible. You are obliged to cooperate in this.
WIA (Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act) invalidity pension
For employees with an income higher than the maximum annual salary (2019: € 55,927), JobService arranges a collective insurance which pays a supplementary invalidity pension over and above the statutory minimum. If you have a permanent incapacity for work you will be paid a percentage of the insured invalidity pension.
